The festival judges are dying for the recipe—since this slice of pie is a real killer.
When a judge is found poisoned at the annual Dogwood Festival pie-eating contest, Avery and her friends are caught in a whirlwind of suspicion and deceit.
A hidden underbelly of blackmail and betrayal forces them to question the motives of those they once trusted—the peaceful façade of their quaint town crumbling.
From the charming bed and breakfast where Avery’s mischievous pet monkey, Ali, wreaks havoc, to the dark secrets lurking in the hearts of the festival-goers, no one is above suspicion.
Desperate to clear her friend’s name, Avery discovers the truth is more elusive than the murderous ingredient in a prize-winning pie.
Avery needs more than a clever monkey to survive this deadly bake-off.

Murder at the Pie Festival This was a really fun story a festival pie contest comes to a halt after a fire starts in one of the booths and then a Judge dies after eating a piece of pie. Then one of the Contestants dies and the case becomes complicated with a lot of suspects. This was fast paced lots of action and some intense moments. I enjoyed this book and I recommend it. - 10/13/2024

Who knew pie could be so bad for you. . . Avery and her friends are having fun at the local festival's pie contest when everything goes to pot. Arson, murder, blackmail and more erupt in this story disturbing the quiet facade of their town. The girls and their ever helpful monkey, Ali, go to work and find out what's really going on underneath the turmoil. This is a quick, interesting, cozy mystery with plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep it interesting. There's also a healthy dose of humor and a budding romantic relationship thrown in to boot. I look forward the the next installment in this cozy mystery series.I'm a member of the ARC team and have left an honest review voluntarily. - 8/10/2024

Page turner of a mystery With every page the mystery deepens as the suspect pool grows and motives are discovered! At times the action is intense! The author balances this excitement with some old fashioned high school level romance to keep it in a light hearted cosy mystery mode! Ali is irrepressible in his search for shiny trinkets. Overall a great storyline with well written characters! - 8/01/2024

Who did it? This is book 3 in a series. I have read the first two and think that it helps to have the background knowledge from them. While this book can stand alone, it is richer from knowing the back story. I like the town, and friendships that Avery has. Her monkey, Ali, makes me laugh with his antics stealing shiny items. Avery is good at piecing together clues. Sometimes she gets into precarious situations. Thankfully, Chris can appreciate her skills. A fun cozy mystery! I would read more of the series as they are published. - 7/30/2024

So good! I've this these books and this series off and on doing some work and I was intrigued by the title of it. I've definitely wanted to read them for a while and I'm glad I did. This was a good story. Absolutely cute & having Ali around just made it adorable. Very good storyline, great mystery and some scary moments to tie it all together. I'm really glad I picked this story up! - 7/28/2024

Another really great book in the Bed and Breakfast Cozy Mystery Series The third book in a very good series with great characters. It is time for the annual Pie-eating contest and Avery the owner of Mountain Acres Bed and Breakfast with her rambunctious monkey pet, Ali and her friends, Elle and Jess and the visiting friend Oliver are excited. Elle is even participating. But when one of her pies kills a judge, Avery, Oliver and the girls have to get into the investigation with Detective Chris Killian. While investigating, they run into so many secrets, blackmail and things aren't always what they seem. Can they find a murderer or is it all so mixed up and hidden they just can't solve this one. I love the friends group and the little bit of romance we see between Avery and the detective. The characters are great and this third book in the series is so much fun. I not only highly recommend this book, but I recommend the whole series and can't wait for book 4! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. - 7/28/2024

The characters are relatable, the monkey can’t keep his hands to himself, and the plot…is a page-turning, unputdownable twisty conundrum of whodunnit.
Poisonous Pies & A Monkey’s Demise is the third book in the Bed and Breakfast series. Each book is a captivating standalone mystery where you can indulge in solving the case. Dive deep into the intriguing plots while gradually unraveling the complexities of the characters with every murder that unfolds.
